好色小姨鈥檚 U14 netball team are celebrating coming 3rd in the country at the England Netball National Schools finals.
Yarm鈥檚 U14 and U16 netball teams qualified for the national finals as one of two schools representing the north east. The qualifying rounds saw Yarm compete against both state and independent schools for the coveted finals place.
Hosted at Oundle School in Peterborough, the two teams took part in their respective age grade competitions, where the top 18 teams from across the country competed against each other.
Showcasing skill, determination, and sportsmanship, the U14 team delivered an outstanding performance, winning six and losing just two of their eight group games. This remarkable achievement propelled them into the semi-final stage.
After losing 11-12 in a fiercely contested semi-final against the eventual second-place finishers, Putney High, then winning the playoffs, the girls finished an impressive 3rd place.
The Under 16s team also played exceptional netball throughout the finals. Despite the challenging competition, they finished seventh in their group, securing a joint 13th place in the national rankings.
These outstanding achievements underpin Yarm’s commitment to fostering excellence in sports and further solidify its national reputation. Recent accolades include being ranked 40th in the country for school sport by School Sport magazine.
Miss Nicola Hodgson, Head of Girls鈥 Games, said: 鈥淚 am very proud of both our teams that have done a fantastic job at representing the school and the region in this national competition.
鈥淲e came up against some extremely tough competitors but the effort and commitment that was shown from the girls throughout was outstanding.鈥
Huw Williams, Headmaster said: 鈥淭he success of our netball teams on a national stage is a testament to the extraordinary talent and determination within our school community. Both teams and coaches train exceptionally hard to achieve these results and as a school we are immensely proud of them all.
This achievement comes off the back of our recent hockey success which saw Yarm bring silverware back to the north east. Our sporting success underscores our unwavering commitment to sporting excellence as part of a broad and ambitious education and sets a high bar for future competitions.鈥
